Tom Pintens leaves Zita Swoon
After the current A band in a box-tour, Stef Kamil Carlens will have to go on without his first lieutenant. Tom Pintens leaves Zita Swoon.
“Stef and I were musically grown apart after a 15-year collaboration. That is logical. Then it is better to split, to continue with the opportunity to once again be in love with one another,” says Tom Pintens who won’t call this split a final farewell. “I keep playing ZS-concerts until the end of March. After that the door stays open. It is possible Stef and I will play together again within a year or two. Although chances are high this will be outside Zita Swoon.” His successor at Zita Swoon is not yet known. On his own, Tom has already enough plans. “I am now working on a successor for my Dutch debut, meanwhile, the gigs with my band keep coming. Recently in Utrecht it was pretty full, and later this year a theatre tour follows. Next to that, I remain active as a producer. In that role I was recently in the control room for the new single Yasmine.”
Tom leaves us with a scoop. “I have also played on the new album of Isabelle A, which will be released in May. Alex Callier (Hooverphonic) was the producer, and also Mario Goossens (drummer, Triggerfinger) is a member of the group. Really I look forward to these performances. “

Tom Pintens verlaat Zita Swoon
Stef Kamil Carlens moet het na de lopende tournee A band in a box zonder zijn eerste luitenant stellen. Tom Pintens verlaat dan Zita Swoon.
“Stef en ik waren na een samenwerking van 15 jaar muzikaal wat uit elkaar gegroeid. Dat is logisch. Dan is het beter om uit elkaar te gaan met de kans om ooit opnieuw op elkaar verliefd te worden”, vertelt Tom Pintens die niet van een definitief afscheid wil spreken. “Ik blijf tot eind maart nog op de concerten meespelen. De deur zal daarna altijd op een kier blijven staan. Het zou kunnen dat Stef en ik binnen een jaar of twee opnieuw gaan samenspelen. Al is de kans groot dat het dan buiten het groepsgegeven van Zita Swoon zal zijn.” Zijn opvolger bij Zita Swoon is nog niet bekend. Zelf heeft Tom alvast genoeg plannen. “Ik ben nu aan het werken aan een opvolger voor mijn Nederlandstalig debuut, intussen lopen de optredens met mijn band nog. Onlangs zat het in Utrecht nog aardig vol en later dit jaar volgt nog een theatertournee. Daarnaast blijf ik als producer actief. Zo zat ik pas nog achter de knoppen voor de nieuwe single van Yasmine.”
Tom geeft als uitsmijter nog een extra primeur mee. “Ik heb ook gespeeld op de nieuwe plaat van Isabelle A, die wordt in mei voorgesteld. Alex Callier was de producer. Ook Mario Goossens (drummer van onder meer Triggerfinger, red.) zit in de groep. Ik kijk echt naar die optredens uit.”

do you remember how sad you were when stef left deus for concentrating on zs?
now we get to hear more of his very
tom is doin the same now. he has already released an extremly fine solo album, that i love regardless of the fact that i don´t speak any dutch…
own vision, more of tom as a songwriter. i´m curious to see and hear what happens…
It´s obvious that he was a big part of zs and a creative counterpart to stef. but i´m shure both of them will keep releasing very fine ear-art. for me it´s a chance for both sides, for something new. zs reincarnated already a lot of times with stef showing the direction.
every new musician was a precious addition and everyone leaving a sad loss….
tom told me in december that he will go and concentrate on his own stuff to fulfill his artistic desires and visions. at first i was shocked, but then it somehow “sounded right” and as you can read above they will definitly cooperate again. tom acts this way to keep the door open.
let´s try to see the good within the bad.

I agree with you Martin, let’s try to see the good within the bad. Artists like ZS are REAL artists, I mean they are multidisciplinary and make a lot of good things in many directions. Sometimes I ask how can they create, collaborate and play in so many ways and arrange all tourdates, recordings, creations…and private life. It’s not so easy and they make a hard work to offer us such a good music and so many magical live moments with love and happiness. So we have to thanks them for that and respect their decision and artistical evolution. A Beatband, Moondog Jr., Zita Swoon evolves since so many years and will go on because music and friendship “it’s in their blood”. ZS we love you and wish the best for everyone. I missed Moondog Jr, like I missed zs without tomas & bjorn, & leonie, like I’m gonna missed zs without tom = everything is not the same at all…time are changing!
& of course I whish everybody the best!
& of course they gonna surprise us like they always did 4 the best or the less good.
& U know that we love ZS after all these years & these changements.
I always did.
& I’m sad & curious too.
