Radiohead singer launches Climate campaign in Brussels

In the presence of Radiohead-front man Thom Yorke, the environmental organization Friends of the Earth Wednesday launched the European climate campaign The Big Ask in Brussels. Promoters want to encourage people to target their national politicians to push for the adoption of binding annual targets for the reduction of CO2 emissions.

(Belga) – “Politicians are the ones who write the laws that we as citizens and businesses must follow. They are the only ones who can establish the structures which will help us to successfully handle the climate change”, said Yorke. The singer of the British rock group was the face of The Big Ask campaign when it started in 2005 in the United Kingdom. That proved very effective and therefore Friends of the Earth wants to take that campaign to the European mainland. In Belgium, the campaign is supported by, a.o. Tom Kestens (Lalalover) and Stef Kamil Carlens (Zita Swoon).

Radiohead-zanger lanceert klimaatcampagne in Brussel 

In aanwezigheid van Radiohead-frontman Thom Yorke heeft de milieuorganisatie Friends of the Earth woensdag in Brussel de Europese klimaatcampagne The Big Ask gelanceerd. De initiatiefnemers willen de burgers aansporen om bij hun nationale politici aan te dringen op de goedkeuring van bindende jaarlijkse doelstellingen voor de reductie van CO2-uitstoot.

(belga) – “Politici zijn degenen die de wetten schrijven die wij als burgers en bedrijven moeten volgen. Zij zijn de enigen die de structuren kunnen oprichten die ons helpen om klimaatverandering succesvol het hoofd te bieden”, zo verklaarde Yorke.De zanger van de gerenommeerde Britse rockgroep was het gezicht van The Big Ask-campagne die in 2005 in het Verenigd Koninkrijk van start ging. Die bleek zeer doeltreffend en daarom wil Friends of the Earth de campagne naar het Europese vasteland brengen. In België wordt de campagne gesteund door onder meer Tom Kestens (Lalalover) en Stef Kamil Carlens (Zita Swoon).
