Tension is a must to acquire instant frantic enthusiasm… and so I must admit the congratulations-mail send by Radio 1 was welcomed with a broad variety of woohoo’s and other yihaa’s.
I’d never been at the Marconi studio. It’s a rather small room (approx. 9×9m ) with a mezzanine at the left side and a striking stair (actually 3) towards it at the back. (the picture below is taken looking down from the mezzanine and shows ¾ of the venue).
The band – in A band in a box-setup – played a subtle set (no jintro, stamina or disco/ with quand même content) who was similar to the previous abiab08-concerts. Stef was very static, probably due to the big textbook (? I was at the other side) which guided him through the concert. It was just one of the signs that showed that ‘our’ band wanted to play perfect. (is this recording future bonus-disc material?). There were some errors, but most of them were covered by the nice atmosphere… other times they wanted it really good, and so they did 3 attempts to play Pretty Girl. Only the second time the entire song was played. On their last attempt the lyrics went like this: “I’m talking ’bout the f*ck”.
+ it was a pity someone sneezed during the fragile Moving through life as prey.

+ There was also a camera crew… so maybe we’ll hear (and see) more of it.

it’s a pity you can hardly hear Stef.
Comment by Marc March 6, 2008 @ 16:55 pmHet was schitterend erbij te mogen zijn… Een totaal andere ervaring dan de betoverende show in het koninklijk circus de week ervoor, maar zeker een even unieke herinnering ! Vooral het steeds weer even magistrale people are like slamming doors en moving through life as prey als kippevelmoment/afsluiter!
Comment by veerle March 7, 2008 @ 14:09 pmYes! I filmed the concert for the Rode Loper with a ‘big camera crew’
and it will be on air Wednesday the 12th on één.
I totally enjoyed the concert.
